Sierra Motocross Association Spring Series: Round One

Taylor Bittner was unstoppable in the Schoolboy, 250cc and 450cc Intermediate classes. In fact, he routinely cut through most of the Pro classes that started on the gate ahead of him. It appeared that his broken wrists from last summer haven't slowed his progress a bit.

Scott Stillmock powered to the 30+ Pro win, and also topped a very large Club moto. Here he destroys the 28,321st Fernley berm of his career.

The 125cc Juniors pour down the Fernley hillside. As usual, this first Fernley race of the year drew a solid turnout with a reported 413 entries over Satuday and Sunday.

Josh Galli hammers sand.

Darron Sturgeon made a return to racing after more than a year off, taking second in the 30+ Pro class.

Curtis Shapiro won one of the 125cc Beginner divisions on his two-stroke Katoom.

Brian Sjogren was on the gas on his new Honda, winning the 250cc Junior class with ease and also finishing a strong second to Bittner in the Schoolboy race.

Gavin Clouser rides through magic-hour light on his way to the 65cc Intermediate win.

Unfortunately, a number of ambulance rides left the last motos finishing as the sun set. But Tony Fagundes used those last rays of sunshine to win the 30+ Expert class.

Here is what happens to your hands when you don't ride enough and all of a sudden decide you're going to race a few motos at Fernley.
