Breaking ground in Fallon
All things considered, things are going pretty well for motocrossers in northern Nevada. Case and point? We're getting yet another new racetrack in the area--this one in Fallon--and judging from the photos promoter Ty Erquiaga sent me this week, it looks like it might be good.
Erquiaga, the promoter behind numerous other local events, including most of the Stead races and Fallon's Octane Fest, told me the dirt is very nice (see photo right,) and that he hopes to make the layout reminiscent of an area classic: the 2005 Champion Speedway course that marked the final chapter in that track's long history (for more on that Carson City circuit, check out our early archives.)
The first events for the Fallon track, which sits adjacent to the Churchill County Fairgrounds, will be this weekend. There will be practice on Saturday the 17th and a race on Sunday the 18th. Keep an eye on this message board thread for more information.
