Carson City, Nevada; July 15, 2005

With a predictability that rivaled the evening’s sunset, Aron Harvey (7z) again blazed to six moto wins at round six of the MX West Summer Nights Series, marking the third consecutive race in the series at which he’s topped three divisions.

Harvey’s wins in the Schoolboy, 125cc Intermediate and 250cc Intermediate classes were some of his final preparations for this summer’s amateur national tour, in which he will compete for an AMA national title at Loretta Lynn’s Tennessee ranch in August. And judging from the consistency and speed Harvey showed throughout the night, it could be a very good summer for the Carson City rider.

“I just wanted to try to put my head down and catch the Pros,” Harvey said after running down many of the pro-class riders who started on the gate before him throughout the evening. “I wanted to work on some stuff for Loretta’s because it’s coming up quick and I need to be ready.”

Behind Harvey, Cameron Bellamy proved to be the fastest among the rest of the Intermediates, claiming solid second-place finishes in both the 125cc and 250cc divisions. Bryan Rodgers scored third in the 125cc race and Nate Vandermade did likewise in the 250cc race.

In Pro action, Nick Baugh topped all four motos of the 125cc and 250cc Pro contests. Baugh rode a borrowed Yamaha in the 125cc race but raced confidently to the front on the unfamiliar machine. The story was much the same in the 250cc race, except Baugh then took the win on his familiar KX250. Like Harvey, Baugh was also in preparation for a national event, putting in his final race before he will try to qualify for the 250cc final at the Lakewood, Colorado AMA National.

The 65cc class saw one of the finest battles of the night when brother Ty and Aaron Siminoe engaged each other in the final Super 65cc moto. Ty, the younger of the two, grabbed the lead early as Aaron worked up from a mid-pack start. Once in second, Aaron pressured his brother throughout the final two laps, but Ty answered with smart lines and a steady pace to take the moto and overall wins via a 2-1 posting. Aaron’s 1-2 earned second and Jesse Masterpool claimed third on the night with a 3-3.
