Mustang, Nevada; July 1, 2006
As fun as the happenings at the Mustang Independence Bash looked, I didn't stay for long.
The reason was that I'm still at least a few days away from a doctor's clearance to ride, and it's a little hard to stand around in a hot, itchy cast while watching everyone else enjoying some prime night racing.
Although the turnout wasn't huge (just less than 200 entries each night would be my guess,) every rider I spoke to seemed genuinely happy about the track and the event. Among the riders at the front during my stay was up-and-coming off-roader Justin Soule (#762 below,) northern California amateur Justin Posey, and 65cc speedster Jesse Sanchez (#651 below.)
So after hanging out long enough to snap the photos that appear below, I split. But I'll be back--when I can bring my bike.
