MX West Triple Crown Series Rounds Three and Four Fallon, Nevada; August 11-12, 2006
Fresh off a Canadian MX2 West motocross title, Nevada’s Jimmy Nelson (316) shifted to arenacross mode to carry off the largest chunk of the weekend’s $10,000 purse. Nelson blasted to convincing wins in three of the weekend’s four Pro main events, holding a frantic pace that no one seemed able to match. His performances were especially impressive considering the field included such notables as Tiger Lacey, Jeff Willoh, Nathan Tiearney and the Blair brothers. Nelson suffered his lone defeat after stalling and struggling to re-fire his machine in Friday’s 250cc feature. Willoh claimed that remaining victory, riding to a solid win ahead of Vincent Blair. Lacey earned the steadiest tally on the weekend, racing to podium finishes in every main event with second-place scores in both 125cc races and third-place tallies in both 250cc contests. Tiearney and Jimmy Hazel joined Nelson in upholding local honor, with Tiearney performing three top-five rides in the main events, and Hazel garnering an impressive second-place score in Saturday’s 250cc main. Clayton Peterson took top-amateur honors, decisively topping all four main events in the 125cc Intermediate and Schoolboy divisions. In the 250cc Intermediate class, Ben Arrate and Adam Conway took the wins on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The mini action featured four main-event wins by Christian Huber in the 85cc Open and Supermini races. Huber also earned second in both 85cc Intermediate mains, following Weslee Valerio on both occasions. Here are more images from the weekend:
