Fernley, Nevada; October 16, 2005

Clayton Peterson (14) continued his impressive transition to big bikes as the former minicycle speedster claimed a convincing win in the 125cc Intermediate class at round one of the MX West Winter Series.

Peterson, who made the jump to a KX250F just months ago, rode away with both moto victories. Ryan Ferris, who just returned from an injury, claimed a solid second overall with a 2-2 score. Mitchell Carvolth took third.

Peterson put in another impressive ride to earn second in the 250cc Intermediate contest, mounted again on his KX250F against the full-size 250cc-class machines. Ryan Eager took the top spot in this class, powering his YZ250 to commanding wins in each moto. Johnny Vallerio, who also just returned from recent injury, claimed third.

The 125cc Junior class boasted the longest entry list of the day with 30 riders on the sheet. At the end of two chaotic motos, Parker Dallas emerged aboard his RM125 to earn the overall victory. Zak Riley pushed his YZ125 to the second spot and Forrest Heston claimed third on the day.

Both Dallas and Riley also had success in the 85cc classes, with Riley claiming second in the 85cc Intermediate and Supermini classes, and Dallas taking third in each of those races. Northern Nevada’s resident amateur star Aaron Siminoe topped the results in both divisions.

In 38+ Pro action, longtime area pros Tim Dyer and Ty Erquiaga battled for the top spot. Erquiaga, who in recent years has spent more time running races as a promoter than racing himself, put in strong laps to lead early in each moto, but eventually relinquished the top spot to Dyer. Dyer also battled in the 30+ Pro class, but this time finished second to Craig Olson.
