MX West Spring Series Round Four/Sierra Motocross Association Spring Series Round Five
Mustang, Nevada; March 26, 2006

Fresh off the Texas spring amateur tour, Aron Harvey (76) paid a visit back to his Nevada roots to walk away from the Schoolboy, 125cc and 250cc Intermediate classes.

Harvey, whose polished riding style has grown even sharper in recent months, delivered a flawless six-moto sweep. And while the results merely show him as the top Intermediate, his lap times reflect that he was the fastest rider--Pros included.

Behind Harvey, Travis McIver turned in solid second-place finishes in the 250cc and Schoolboy classes, while Ryan Hazen continued his impressive return from a knee injury to claim second in the 125cc class. Johnny Vallerio scored third in the 250cc race, and Andrew Valdez powered his new Honda to third-place finishes in the 125cc and Schoolboy divisions.

The 125cc Junior class held the top entry count with 35 riders, but Zak Riley stood above them all. Mounted aboard a new CRF (as opposed to his former two-stroke,) Riley rode to a decisive 1-1 score ahead of a very chaotic field. Kurt Hamann bested the rest of the pack for second overall, and Cole Huha earned third.

Tommy Jean took home the bulk of the Pro purse, topping the 125cc and 250cc classes. Jean had to fight off so-so starts throughout the day, as well as two crashes in the first 125cc moto, but his persistence left him comfortably ahead at the end of three of his four motos. Cameron Bellamy, who led early in each 250cc moto, took second in that class, and Todd McMaster posted a strong second in the 125cc race.

The 125cc Beginner class saw Tyler Pfeifer, who was mounted aboard an undersized Suzuki supermini, take a steady 2-2 score to claim the overall win. Dean Stringham and Brandon Taylor followed for second and third overall, respectively.

The 125cc Junior class was packed, but Riley (whose red front fender is poking ahead here) just rode away.

J.T. Blattman led the 65cc Intermediate and 65cc Open classes all day long.
