Armed with his characteristically aggressive style, J.L. Bitz (273) blasted to four moto wins to top the 125cc and 250cc Pro classes.
Bitz also powered to the Dash-for-Cash victory, in which he raced from his assigned starting position at the back of the field to handily win the three-lap feature over the day’s top Pros and Intermediates. The early laps of the Dash-for-Cash marked the only times during the day in which Bitz was not out in front of his motos.
Eric Gillen followed Bitz throughout much of the Pro racing, claiming the win in the 25+ class as well as second place behind Bitz in the 250cc affair. Gillen faced a strong challenge in the second 25+ moto from Donny Roberts, which ended when Roberts slid out in a turn shortly before the finish, allowing an elated Gillen to claim his otherwise hard-fought victory in peace.
The Intermediate classes saw the triumphant return of two recently injured pilots. Ryan Eager, who began racing again recently after suffering a broken femur in November, took a convincing win with a 1-1 score in the 250cc class. Ryan Hazen, who just returned from knee surgery, topped the 125cc class with a 1-1 score after mounting brilliant charges from midpack starts in both motos. Hazen also followed Eager for second place in the 250cc race, and Johnny Vallerio claimed the runner-up spot in the 125cc.
Recent minicycle transplant Dakota May continued to impress in the 125cc Junior class, earning his second victory of the series in as many races. Devon Olsen took a solid second, and Colton Crostwaithe earned third.
Here are more images from the day:
May was on the gas in the 125cc Juniors.
Hazen (204) battles Nate Vandermade (448).
Gavin Clouser powered his Cobra away from his 50cc competitors all day long.
It was all about the ruts.
